PERSONAL HISTORY Anton Gabszewicz has been an international specialist in English Ceramics for over 30 years. He began dealing in English Porcelain after leaving school and joined Christie's in 1975. There he catalogued British Ceramics' sales and prepared valuations for Insurance and Probate of both European and Oriental Porcelain from British country houses and abroad. For many years he was a principal auctioneer for the firm amd became a Director in 1989 when he took over as Head of the European Ceramics Department. Since 1993 he has been
acting for Christie's in a consultative capacity and has organised
two Evening Education Courses on 18th Century English Porcelain.

A World Tour in 2000
included return invitations to speak at the George R.Gardiner Museum,
Toronto and The San Francisco Ceramic Circle. He also lectured at
The DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, Colonial Williamsburg
and The War Memorial Museum, Auckland, New Zealand. In Australia
he opened 'The Treasury of Bow' Exhibition in Melbourne and
spoke at the seminar organised by the Ceramics & Glass Circle of
Australia. He also spoke to The Collectors' Society of Adelaide
and The Ceramic Collectors' Society in Sydney. |

He was one of the first experts to take part in the original BBC Television's Antiques Roadshow, and continued to appear regularly for 10 years. He has written articles for The Antique Dealer and Collector's Guide, Antiques Trade Gazette, Christie's Review of the Year and Ceramics Magazine. He has published a number of standard reference works:
